REVERENCE
경외심

그대가 그것을 사랑하지 않는다면
그대는 어떤 것도 만들어낼 수 없다.

모든 창조물 가운데서, 모든 영원한 것 가운데서, 당신이란 무한한 존재의 모든 영역 가운데서 가장 경이로운 사실은 제가 이 책의 첫 단원에서 강조한 것입니다. 그것은 바로 이것입니다. 
IN ALL creation, in all eternity, in all the realms of your infinite being, the most wonderful fact is that which is stressed in the first chapter of this book. 

당신은 하느님입니다. You are God. 

당신은 I AM입니다. You are the "I AM that I AM".

당신은 의식입니다. You are consciousness. 

당신은 창조자입니다. You are the creator. 

이것은 불가사의한 것이며, 모든 시대에 걸쳐 선각자, 선지자 그리고 신비주의자들이 알고 있는 위대한 비밀입니다. 이것은 당신이 결코 지식적으로 알 수 없는 진리입니다. 
This is the mystery, this is the great secret known by the seers, prophets, and mystics throughout the ages. This is the truth that you can never know intellectually.  

이러한 당신은 누구입니까?
Who is this you?

당신이 자신을 존 존스, 메리 스미스라고 알고 있다면 그것은 터무니없는 말입니다. 의식이 있기에 당신은 존 존스, 메리 스미스라는 것을 알고 있습니다. 
That it is you, John Jones or Mary Smith, is absurd. It is the consciousness which knows that you are John Jones or Mary Smith. 

의식은 당신의 보다 큰 자아, 당신의 보다 깊은 자아, 당신의 무한한 존재입니다.
It is your greater self, your deeper self, your infinite being. 

그것을 무엇이라 불러도 좋습니다. 중요한 것은 그것이 당신 내부에 있으며, 그것이 당신이며,그것이 당신 세상의 전부라는 것입니다.
Call it what you will. The important thing is that it is within you, it is you, it is your world. 

이러한 사실을 기초로 불변의 법칙인 전제의 법칙이 성립됩니다.
It is this fact that underlies the immutable law of assumption.

이러한 사실을 바탕으로 당신이라는 그 존재가 세워집니다.
It is upon this fact that your very existence is built.

이러한 사실을 토대로 이 책의 모든 단원이 만들어졌습니다.
It is this fact that is the foundation of every chapter of this book.

당신은 이것을 지식적으로 알 수 없고, 그것을 토론할 수도 없으며, 그것을 실증할 수도 없습니다.
No, you cannot know this intellectually, you cannot debate it, you cannot substantiate it. 

당신은 그것을 느낄 수 있을 뿐입니다.
You can only feel it. 

당신은 그것을 오로지 인식할 수 있을 뿐입니다.
You can only be aware of it. 

그것을 인식하게 되면, 어떤 거대한 감정이 당신 존재 속으로 스며듭니다.
Becoming aware of it, one great emotion permeates your being. 

당신은 끊임없는 경외의 느낌을 갖고 살게 됩니다.
You live with a perpetual feeling of reverence. 

당신의 창조자는 바로 당신 자신이라는 것, 그리고 그가 당신을 사랑하지 않았다면 당신을 결코 만들지 않았을 거라는 것을 알고 나면 당신의 가슴은 헌신과 경배로 가득차게 됩니다. 
The knowledge that your creator is the very self of yourself and never would have made you had he not loved you must fill your heart with devotion, yes, with adoration. 

당신 주변의 세상을 단 한순간이라도, 단 한번이라도 제대로 알아차린다면 당신은 깊은 경외와 숭배의 느낌으로 가득 차게 됩니다.
One knowing glimpse of the world about you at any single instant of time is sufficient to fill you with profound awe and a feeling of worship.  

경외의 느낌이 가장 강렬할 때 당신은 하느님과 가장 가까워지는 것이며 하느님과 가장 가까이 있을 때, 당신의 삶은 가장 풍요롭습니다.
It is when your feeling of reverence is most intense that you are closest to God, and when you are closest to God, your life is richest. 

가장 깊은 느낌들은 표현하기가 가장 어려우며 경배를 드릴 때조차도, 우리가 할 수 있는 최고의 찬사는 침묵뿐입니다.
Our deepest feelings are precisely those we are least able to express, and even in the act of adoration, silence is our highest praise.

상상은 당신이 추구하는 것을
현실로 안내하는 문이기 때문에
먼저 상상 속에서 그것을 얻어야 합니다.
그러나 결과를 생각하는 방관자가 아니라
결과로부터 생각하는 참여자가 되어야 합니다
이 상태는 몽상과는 다릅니다.
왜냐하면 이 상태는 '통제된 상상력'과,
'꾸준하며 집중된 주의력'의 결과인 반면
몽상은 통제되지 않은 상상의 결과이며
그저 백일몽을 꾸는 것과 같기 때문입니다
